Reef Gliders 5 Star Resort is located right on the water in the heart of West End village. We are one of only two dive centers lucky enough to be located on the water. This means that during your surface intervals, and at the end of the day when you are hanging out with the crew after a great day's diving, you may be lucky enough to see octopus, small stingrays, permit, bonefish and a host of other sea life just off the deck. You also get to see spectacular sunsets every day of your holiday.
We have a range of dive accessories for sale such as logbooks, masks, fins, dive books and dive site guides, underwater cameras, mask straps, clips, defog, dry bags, DVD's and much more.
Our equipment includes Sherwood and Mares regulators and BCD's. All our gear is less than 4 years old and is regularly maintained by our qualified staff. Our aluminum tanks are all within their hydrostatic test dates and are visually inspected and serviced on a regular basis. We also have smaller tanks for children.
Our compressed (breathing) air is filled by a MAX-AIR 90 compressor. As a PADI 5 Star Resort, we send air samples to the USA every quarter to undergo a range of tests by Trace Analytics laboratory. Each quarter we are issued with a Certificate of Air Worthiness which is on display in the dive center. This means that you can dive in the comfort of knowing that the air that you are breathing is free of oil particles and other contaminants.
The dive center is surrounded by gardens with banana, plantain and almond trees. We have a large deck at the rear and a nice beach area with hammocks and chairs where you can sunbathe during surface intervals.
We are also lucky enough to have an on-site snack bar serving breakfasts and lunches and some of the best coffee in West End. Cold beer is available at the end of the days diving so you can relax and watch the spectacular sunsets. We also have a roof terrace looking over the water for you to relax on.
We have three dive boats to give you the flexibility of choosing your dive sites for the day. Our main boat, 'Diablo Del Mar', is a 26ft long boat imported from Miami and converted for diving here on Roatan.
It is powered by a 200HP 2-stroke outboard engine, ensuring you can get to most dive sites within a short 10 minute journey. Being over 7 feet wide there is plenty of space for 14 people including our staff.
For large groups we take additional Divemasters to ensure that divers with differing air-consumptions can all maximize their dive times. This boat has partial cover for those of you who get sunburned easily.
'Nelson's Revenge' is also a 26ft long boat powered by a 115HP Mercury 4-stroke outboard engine. It can hold 10 divers, including staff and is great for taking experienced divers to some of the more long-range sites. Nelson's Revenge also has partial cover from the sun. Nelson's Revenge has recently undergone refurbishment to provide more space for our divers.
'
Reef Ladder' is a 22ft panga powered by a 75HP Yamaha 2-stroke engine. It can hold 8 divers including staff and is primarily used for courses and snorkelers. However, it is still fast enough to cover the whole of the Marine Park sites in around 15 minutes.
All our boats are fully equipped for your safety and convenience. On board we have vhf radios, first aid kits, emergency oxygen, spare equipment, drinking water and mask defog. To our knowledge we are the only dive center in West End to have such a range of safety gear on board our boats.
