Herbies Place
Depth Range: 20-130ft+ (6-40m+)
Access: Boat
Difficulty: intermediate
Like its sister site, West End Wall, this is a fantastic drift dive. This spectacular site is broken up by large cracks in the reef wall and by a number of sand patches with huge barrel sponges. Search the base of sea fans and sea rods to find the resident seahorses. Look out into the blue for tarpon, jacks, barracuda and eagle rays. Closer to the reef you may see turtles and the unusual arrow blenny.

West End Wall
Depth Range: 10-130ft+ (3-40m+)
Access: Boat
Difficulty: intermediate
This is one of the best dive sites on Roatan. Most of the time this dive is done as a drift dive and you have the choice to drift over the reef edge and enjoy the drop-off, or get in close to try and spot the seahorses which cling to the bases of sea rods.
There are spectacular barrel sponges and pillar corals as big as a diver and often you can see turtles, eagle rays, tarpon, jacks and barracuda.
Blue Channel
Depth Range: 5-50ft (2-16m)
Access: Boat or shore
Difficulty: Novice
Blue channel is a shallow dive just off the shore from the West End. The channel runs parallel to the shore and is approximately 30ft deep. There is a great diversity of reef life at this site. Tangs, triggerfish, damselfish, grunts, snapper, juvenile grouper and barracuda can all be seen here, as can numerous other species.
Canyon Reef
Depth Range: 10-130ft+ (3-40m+)
Access: Boat
Difficulty: Novice
Canyon reef, whilst not having particularly good fish life, boasts a highly unusual reef structure. The whole area is a maze of crevices and ravines, just like a small underwater grand canyon. Take the time to briefly swim out into the blue and appreciate the view back to the reef. Along the reef crest you can find large gorgonians and sea fans, which provide the perfect environment for seahorses, file fish and trumpet fish. Numerous cleaning stations cover the reef and, if you look closely, you can see the many type of cleaner shrimp and gobies competing for cleaning rights.
The rugged canyons are littered with holes perfect for the many species of moray eels found in the waters around the island.
Fish Den
Depth Range: 10-130ft+ (3-40m+)
Access: Boat
Difficulty: Novice/intermediate
This is a typical north-shore wall site. As its name implies, the reef here is a gathering place for many species of fish, including tangs, angelfish, trumpetfish, goatfish, spadefish and sometimes pelagics such as jacks and barracuda.
